This has been a day of good news for Herr Hitler.

Warsaw has capitulated after a heroic but hopeless stand. And in the first battle in history on the open sea between naval ships and airplanes, Germany claims a resounding victory for its air force that possibly may have consequences unforseen when this war started three and a half weeks ago.
